Although there is still some contention in the Answer to the question of "world's the most expensive fruit?", YUBARI KING MELON definitely competes for the top position among other fruit.

The reason for being so is not only is it rare and difficult to grow, But it also has to pass through several stringent criterias to be called a superior quality Yubari king. Such as it has to perfectly spherical to be considered of highest grade. 

The sweet melon, which has become a status symbol, is grown exclusively in the small town of Yubari in Japan’s Hokkaido province.An average yubari king melon sells around $200 a piece.

The highest price this Mellon went for was At an auction in 2021, two melons of this variety sold for 2.7 million yen, or 20,370 euros.
